husky_puppy_vet_med.jpgLaser therapy for dogs is one of the state-of-the-art services available at our high-tech animal hospital performed by veterinarian Dr. Lillian Roberts and veterinarian Dr. Susan Powell. This treatment method has been successful in treating many canine health conditions at our veterinary hospital with arthritis being the most common. As an alternative to dog surgery, our Palm Desert animal clinic uses laser therapy to treat conditions such as back pain, inter-vertebral disc disease, wounds, degenerative joint disease and trauma to the muscles, skin and bone.

Other pet medical ailments are helped with laser therapy, too. If your dog is having ear problems, nasal problems, bladder problems, hot spots or lick granulomas, bring the animal into our vet hospital to see if laser therapy can help. We now treat some pet dental conditions, including gingivitis, growths and inflammation with laser therapy. Some health conditions can be rectified in one session while others may need a series of session to clear the condition.

What is Laser Therapy?

Although dog laser therapy is an advanced technological procedure, it is actually a fairly simple concept. A laser beam of invisible light is sent into cells and absorbed where it results in increased blood circulation and cell stimulation. The light absorption process is known as photo-biotherapy and improves the health and function of the dog's cells.
Depending on your pet's condition, we will use either pulsed or continuous lasers. While pulsed lasers work best to relieve pain, continuous lasers work best on fluid build-up and inflammation. Continuous lasers stimulate blood and lymphatic circulation, which results in fast fluid re-absorption. On the other hand, pulsed lasers have the ability to override a pain impulse transmission to the brain.

Our Palm Desert animal hospital's knowledgeable, well-trained and compassionate staff can answer your questions about laser therapy or any of our other comprehensive pet services we offer in to pets in Rancho Mirage, Indio and Indian Wells.
